Marty Wymore, Executive Director

Marty has been the Executive Director of the Region 6 Planning Commission since August 1991. He is involved in community and economic development, housing, transportation, public transit, disaster and infrastructure grant writing, grant administration, and general administration.

Marty has an undergraduate degree in Geography from the University of Iowa, and a Masters of Public Administration degree from Drake University. He is originally from Agency, Iowa but has spent over twenty years in Marshalltown with Region 6. Marty has a wife and two children. While not at work, Marty likes to bicycle, hike, and spend time with family.

Donna Sampson, Senior Planner

Donna has been a planner at the Region 6 Planning Commission since 2006. She has worked in the community planning field since 2003, as the Director of the Main Street program in State Center, Iowa until she joined Region 6. She is involved in community and economic development, historic preservation, transportation, housing, and grant writing. 

Donna grew up near Greenfield, Iowa and graduated from Greenfield High School.  After living in Tucson, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia, she returned to her rural roots to live and work in Iowa’s small communities. Her educational background includes a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Georgia State University, an MA in Applied Anthropology, and an MCRP in Community and Regional Planning both from Iowa State University. Donna has two children, five grandchildren, and a Chocolate Labrador name Harley.

Meet the Region 6 Planning Commission Staff

Alyson Lutz, Planner

Alyson has been a Planner at Region 6 Planning Commission since July 2010. Starting as an intern in January 2010, she moved into a full time planner position, working on FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plans. Alyson also works with the housing department and Peoplerides on various projects and applications. Prior to working at Region 6, Alyson graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning, and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems. 

While outside of work, Alyson is enjoying life in Marshalltown where she’s a member of the Community YMCA and is playing in the Parks and Recreation Tennis Leisure League.  She likes spending time with her boyfriend and is very close with her family in Illinois. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, shopping, sewing, learning to cook, tennis, and swimming.

Alicia Rosman, Planner

Alicia has been working as a planner at the Region 6 Planning Commission since January 2009. She specializes in general planning and grant writing, transportation planning, hazard mitigation/disaster recovery planning, GIS, and managing the Region 6 website.

Alicia grew up on a farm in southwest Iowa before attending Iowa State University in Ames. She received her Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning in December 2008, and she is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. While in school, Alicia is working part-time at Region 6 and as a teaching assistant for undergraduate planning classes at the University of Iowa. Her graduate studies are focused primarily in land use and transportation planning, and her projected graduation is May 2012. While not at work, Alicia enjoys barefoot running, cooking and baking, reading, and spending time with her boyfriend and sisters.

Mike Wentzien, Housing Specialist

Mike has been the primary Housing Specialist at the Region 6 Planning Commission since 2001. He administers the majority of Region 6's housing programs along with completing inspections, and other housing-related activities.

He is a lifetime resident of Gladbrook except four years while attending the University of Iowa from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business. He has served as a Mayor, City Councilman, and County Supervisor. He has also managed a farm operation and owned and operated a hardware store. While not at work, Mike enjoys food preparation, entertaining friends, following the Hawkeyes, spending time with his wife Sara, their three married children and spouses, and eight grandchildren.

Pam Fuller, Administrative Support

Pam has worked in Administrative Support at the Region 6 Planning Commission since 1998. She specializes is general administrative support including bookkeeping, billing, payroll, and basically keeping the office from falling apart! Pam also assists Peoplerides in ride scheduling and dispatch.

Pam grew up in Albion and attended Marshalltown schools. Before working at Region 6, she worked as a clerk and ambulance dispatcher at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center for sixteen years. Pam has a husband, three children, and three grandchildren. While not at work, Pam enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, boating and fishing near her home at Lake Ponderosa, campfires, reading, and cooking.
