Marshalltown Tornado Assistance

The Region 6 Housing Trust Fund has funding available for emergency housing repair assistance to homes that were affected by the July 19 tornado in Marshalltown. Assistance may be able to cover the cost of emergency repairs, including improvements to roofing, siding, windows, soffits and fascia. With our limited funds, we may prioritize essential improvements like roofing. No funding is available for personal property items or rental housing. Eligible properties must be owner-occupied, and households must meet certain income requirements in order to qualify for the program. The maximum annual household income limits are:

Household Size         Household Income
1 person                  $38,000
2 person                  $43,400
3 person                  $48,850
4 person                  $54,250
5 person                  $58,600
6 person                  $62,950

Anyone in need of assistance can  apply in two ways:

If you had insurance on your property and the insurance payout does not appear to be enough to cover your damages, please include a copy of the insurance payment documentation. You can also stop by our office and we will make copies of that insurance payment paperwork. This will greatly help us with the processing. If you have questions about the Housing Trust Fund, please contact Mark Newberg, Region 6 Housing Specialist, at 641-752-0717 or mnewberg@region6planning.org.

This pre-application does not guarantee assistance, but those in need are encouraged to apply in case more resources become available at a later time. Limited funds are available through the trust fund. Housing Trust Fund resources will not duplicate other forms of assistance such as insurance. Further applicant information will be obtained and verified at a later time. We are unfortunately not able to assist renters or owners of rental housing as part of our Housing Trust Fund program.
