Region 6 works for you!
Region 6 Planning Commission, headquartered
in Marshalltown, is a voluntary association of local governments
established in 1974 to provide member communities with professional
services in the areas of community and rural development, transportation
funding, planning, and public transit services. Member dues go to support a wide variety of
services that assist member governments in improving the quality of
life in their communities. Membership is open to any local government
in Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties.
Some of the benefits of membership include:
- Access to services that can help communities minimize costs and
maximize services;
- Pooling of resources with other communities to gain access to professional
local assistance services;
- Staff partners who can provide professional local assistance advice
and planning at meetings at no cost to you;
- Support for Peoplerides public transit services;
- Support for regional planning activities;
- Skilled and effective grant writers who can prepare funding packages
at no or nominal cost to you; and
Exclusive access to regional funding for transportation improvement and
enhancement projects.
